Big Funky Chairs

Big Funky ChairsThe other day, I got a text from my friend Deb over some chairs that had been left out for the trash a few blocks away. Imagine my surprise when these were what i found! There are three of these. I refinished one in castle with dark silver metallic glaze and wipe on poly. The other two I plan to do as a set. The lines on these are just incredible. I can’t believe someone threw these out. One person’s trash is most certainly another person’s treasure!

Bench (commissioned)

I sanded it down, primed and painted parts (flat black), and stained the accent areas (miniwax dark walnut). Afterwards, i gave it all a few coats of poly. I really love the way that this turned out. It looks so much cleaner now.

Vintage Dining Chairs (keeper)

Refinished vintaage cane chairsThese chairs were given to me by my new friend, Butch. They once belonged to his grandmother. I cleaned, primed, and painted them in flat black before sealing with polyurethane. Then, i reupholstered the seats with leftover facric that I had lying around. Since the cane was pretty severely broken on two of them, so I decided to remove it and replace them with upholstery as well. I fell in love with these, and decided to keep them. That are currently in my dining room. So rad.

Bakers Rack (or small island) and stool (sold)

It was a little wobby and scratched, but it was a solid piece and in no way worthy of a landfill! I repaired everything, sanded down the top, primed and painted the body and rack in flat black, and sealed that part in clear wax. The top I left natural to get the butcher block look. After sanding it down, i just sealed it in a super durable spar polyurethane. It sold instantly, I love when that happens! haha
